“I Worked As A Lecturer For Several Years In Nigeria, And I Have Lectured Abroad, My One Year Salary Abroad Was More Than My 5 Years Salary In Nigeria Put Together”- Nigerian Man Living Abroad Shares Experience

Francis Okpaleke also known as the loaded man on Facebook has concluded that no matter how hard a lecturer or professor works in Nigeria, they can never out earn their counterparts overseas.

Francis shared how he
worked as a lecturer for several years in Nigeria, and compared his earnings in Nigeria after lecturing abroad, Says his one year salary abroad was more than his 5 years salary in Nigeria put together.

In his words:

“Give me Japa, and I will take my chances.

No matter how hard a lecturer or professor works in Nigeria, they can never out earn their counterparts overseas. Yes, they may see pockets of funding opportunities now and again, but they are not paid the same package their foreign counterparts earn. The same can be said of many professions in our home countries. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying Japa is the final bus stop or the ultimate goal in life, but Japa pays.

I worked as a lecturer for several years in Nigeria, and I have lectured abroad. My one year salary abroad was more than my 5 years salary in Nigeria put together. The opportunities that were made available to me abroad, I didn’t have a quarter of them in Nigeria. Yes, we all have to start from somewhere. We need to give back to our home country. However, you need to give back to yourself and your unborn children. You need to be able to afford to buy a plane ticket without saving 10 months salary or taking a loan. You need to be able to travel the world without visas and have access to the best of healthcare that our presidents – living and gone – would go abroad to access.

Japa, take your chances. Sell that property, if you need it to fund your Japa journey for studies or PR. Life is all about risk and reward. Lecturers abroad access grants that run into thousands and millions of dollars. They have a solid academic environment. They work with industries. They are well respected too. Same can be said about other professions thriving abroad.

Take your chances. Swallow that frog. If a Professor of Medicine left to be an attending in the United States of America, you can fill the blank yourself.

I am not telling you what to do, I am just saying unequivocally, I will Japa without looking back whether it is in the morning, afternoon or night, as long as my PR is in view, I will take my chances abroad.”.
