Nigerian Lady Who Usually Carry Gas Cylinder On Her Head & Trekked To Save Her Transport Shares How She Doesn’t Worry About Filling Up Her Gas Since Relocating To UK
Nigerian lady named Sonia Diarie on Facebook has recounted moment when she fills up her gas cylinder while in Nigeria and how she would carry it on her head and trek to save up transport. Today Sonia it’s in UK and she doesn’t have to worry about filling up cylinders anymore,.
Sonia shared how in UK you just switch on the gas cooker and start cooking. No lifting, no refilling, no asking “where dem dey sell gas?”
Sharing on Facebook, she wrote:
“When I was in Nigeria, I used to fill my gas cylinder for about 3k or more—can’t even remember the exact amount. After paying that much, I’d still carry the big 12kg cylinder on my head because I didn’t want to “waste” N50 on transporting it to the house.
The shop wasn’t that far, and in my mind, paying for bike or keke was a financial mistake😂😂
But the stress I went through before getting home? If stress could be measured, believe me, it was way more than the money I was trying to save!😂😂
Fast forward to life abroad—turns out they don’t even use cylinders here! Till now, I still don’t know how the gas gets to us. In all three houses I’ve lived in, everything was already set up.
You just switch on the gas cooker and start cooking. No lifting, no refilling, no asking “where dem dey sell gas?”
There were even times back home when I’d burn extra money on transport just looking for where to buy gas during scarcity!
Honestly, if this is the only thing I gained from relocating, isn’t it enough for me? Oya, go and ask Nigerians how they’re coping with the price of gas—and the transport stress on top!”.
