Despite Bring A Brand Ambassador To A Company That Helps People Process Their Documents For Relocation, Nancy Isime Says She Won’t Japa

Nigerian actress and media personality Nancy Isime is opening up once again about why she doesn’t buy into the whole ‘japa’ idea, and why she would rather remain here in Nigeria and do occassional trips out of the country and back, even now that she’s signed as an ambassador to a ‘japa’ company. Here is what Nancy had to say.

First of all, last year when Nancy Isime was asked about what she would say to people who want to japa during an interview with Channels Television, she said:

NANCY ISIME: First, I don’t think people should leave. Here is home. You can go relax, or work, or I don’t know, just go for some time and then come back. Because if we all leave here, who is going to build here for the kids? So first, I’m not entirely comfortable with the japa syndrome. But you must do what you must do. I don’t like to advice people because they know where y’know, the shoe pinches, so advising such people who probably don’t have any hope here to stay back because you are staying back, it doesn’t really tally. But one thing I’ll say is I don’t buy the idea of leaving. So I can’t really advice those people.

Now, in 2024, the actress has been signed to a company named Vision Canada that helps people process their documents and facilitate their move to Canada. And still, even as an ambassador for a ‘japa’ company, Nancy Isime herself still holds steadfast in her stance to stay in Nigeria telling The New Telegraph:

NANCY ISIME: When I was much younger, I wanted to school and live in Canada. I was in the university and I wanted to go complete my BSc in the University of Calgary in Canada back then but I couldn’t because I didn’t know who to ask. I didn’t know places to go to. To find myself now as the ambassador of Vision Canada, a company that can help both young and old people, who dream to relocate to Canada to know exactly what to do is part of actualization the dream I had back then. Whenever we make a young person’s dream of living abroad, Canada come true, it is a win for me.

[But as for living abroad for me] are you guys chasing me away? I love it here. I love Lagos, I love Nigeria. I wish I could say yes, that I want to relocate but maybe in future. Right now, I am comfortable travelling for work, travelling for holidays and coming back.
