Meet – Dr Ruguru Kimani, Kenyan born Medical Doctor and Founder of Exciting Parenting, a blogging platform where she discusses matters of child health, parenting and shares new ways of making parenting easy and enjoyable.
The 27-year-old prides herself to being an expert as she has done vast research in the field. She has also learnt a lot concerning parenting as she is the first born among six children, a role that she says has enabled her to “learn on the job”.
Dr Ruguru Kimani holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in Medicine from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and aspires to be a Surgeon.
Through the impact of her work, she was named among The Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 Class of 2022, as one of young bright minds contributing to the continent’s growth. In August 2020, she received the Top 35 Under 35 Award during the International Youth Day.
Dr Ruguru Kimani is also heavily interested in policy making in health, as evidenced by her great investment in research. She has worked for the Annals of African Surgery, the publishing body of The Surgical Society of Kenya as an editorial intern.
She currently handles a special publication in the journal, Beyond Surgery, to look into the lives of doctors and see what policies can be addressed into improving their lives.
Her aspirations are to have a medical system that champions equality and responsiveness when it comes to health delivery in Kenya and Africa at large.
