After weeks of waiting on end for my visa, I am excited to finally arrive London where I would continue my internship with the Legal Policy and Research Unit of the International Bar Association .
I am grateful to God for making this a possibility. I am especially thankful to family (Disu Temitope Olumuyiwa ) and friends who assisted one way or the other in my journey to being an intern with the IBA. I am grateful to my friend, Chijioke Ukomadu who not only encouraged me to apply for this opportunity, but took it upon himself to conduct a mock interview with me days to the actual interview. I am grateful for friends like Adebomi Ninilola Saliu-Aina ACIArb (UK), AICMC, ACILG, TOBILOBA AKINYOSOYE and Chijioke Ucheakonam who supported in every way they could, and constantly cheered me up as the visa application process dragged on for too long. All our useful chit-chat has encouraged me to pursue career-defining opportunities as this.
I am indebted to my academic mentors, Misbau Alamu LATEEF, Ph.D. and Mrs Yemisi Adewole for all their help during this process. Thank you so much Susan Burkert for everything and every time. With you, everything about this internship has been as easy as it can get.
I look forward to enjoying my stay in London and to the experience of working with Sara Carnegie, Beatriz Martínez Molina, Anurag Bana and all the other incredible people at the IBA with whom I have had the privilege to interact in the past few weeks.
It’s my first day at the IBA office in London, and I have been touched by the kindness of Eric Rugundu who has shown me around and taken pictures of me that I would cherish for a lifetime.
It’s been only few hours here in London, but I can indeed confirm that somewhere between living and dreaming, there is London.
